POWERED STRAIGHTENERS FOR SHEET METAL COIL PROCESSING
Colt Automation manufactures light-duty, medium-duty, heavy-duty and extra heavy-duty Straighteners processing steel coils in a range of gauges and sizes from 6” to 84” wide and roll diameters from 2” to 8”. All of Colt’s Straighteners share these common elements:
• Solid Frame construction
• Heavy-Duty Entry Guides with 2″ Self Centering Acme Threaded Rod
• 52100 Aviation Bearing Quality Roll Material for Straightener & Pinch Rolls (Rockwell 60/64)
• Large Roll journals with full outboard roll support
• Entry and Exit Pinch Rolls
• Counterbalanced Pinch Roll design (Weightless Pinch Roll settings) allowing very thin Material (.020”) and exotic marking sensitive material processing (aluminum, perforated, coated, painted)
• Bauer Straightener Motors (expected life to 40 yrs)
• Backup roll support from single to quadruple Backup rolls in order to limit deflection when running narrow or AHSS material
• Bearing quality zero back lash gears with hardened teeth
• Optional satin or chrome flash finish coating
• Catenary support
• Material detection sensors
• Absolute encoders at each Straightener Roll
• Fully Automated as desired

Colt only uses 52100 Aviation Grade Alloy for Straightener Roll Construction. Once ground and polished, COLT Straightener Rolls meet or exceed RC 60/64…the Hardest Rolls Manufactured!
ALWAYS INNOVATING
Using the latest Variable Frequency Drives with Ethernet /IP interface. When integrated with a laser loop sensor, your Colt Straightener and Uncoiler will run at constant speed, matching the throughput of the Feeder eliminating the start/stop motion. This will reduce wear and tear and increase service life of drive components.

Colt has always built the toughest equipment available, capable of processing High Strength Steel. As the composition of steel including: AHSS | HSLA | Dual Phase has evolved, so has Colt Straighteners. Our engineering science & calculations build in generous service factors. This ensures limited, if any roll deformation or deflection when processing the toughest strength steels, resulting in less wear and downtime.
STRAIGHTENER quality manufacturing includes wider side plates, full outboard support, larger roll journals, bigger drive gears and stronger drive trains. We machine all transitions with large radius to limit metal fatigue and reduce possible shear points.
Pinch Rolls are Flash chromed with #3 matte finish for maximum traction. Combined with larger journals, hardened gears and in some cases, dual drive, double redundant drive chains extend equipment uptime and life cycle.
